have returned and 82 years later; once again breed succesfully at Te Kuri a Paoa.

Fluttering shearwaters are now regular visitors at Te Kuri a Paoa, they have been attracted using sound attraction and
artificial burrows. Also our latest predator proof fence, constructed in Gisborne to house Grey faced petrel chicks as part
of the Longbush Eco Sanctuary Project (www.longbushreserve.org). Constructed by Vance Gardiner and Graeme Coppin who
have done an amazing job.
Lifting fencing gear onsite at Longbush, Vance's excellent entry door design and Graeme investigates a retaining wall below the new enclosure.
Over 400 gannets are now visiting Te Kuri a Paoa (Nick's Head) gannet colony, 16 chicks (below) were counted on the 9th Dec 2011 with more located
down the slope (pics courtesy Graeme Coppin). Some of the fibreglass decoys can be seen in shot, slightly larger than live birds.
Patsy Matthews recently visited Nga Manu Sanctuary to assist with the juvenile tuatara dig.
Patsy had an amazing time and met a great group of people.
