Biodiversity Survey and Monitoring :
Ecoworks NZ undertakes biodiversity survey and monitoring for a wide range of clients. Ecoworks has been contracted to undertake projects throughout New Zealand for the Department of Conservation, Forestry Companies (FSC monitoring), QEII National Trust, Private Landowners and Companies, Iwi and Hapu Groups and Regional Authorities.
A range of nationally recognised and specific methodologies are used to measure animal and plant populations ,their presence, absence, abundance or condition, i.e. kiwi population survey, invasive weed survey, forest condition surveys, invertebrate survey and monitoring, reptile survey, rodent density survey and monitoring. These recognised monitoring procedures ensure consistency between organisations and cross comparison between projects when interpreting data sets.
Survey
Survey reports are printed and supplied to the client to a high standard both in hard copy and pdf. format.
• A client wishes to specifically measure the result or outcome of their financial investment in an environmental restoration or enhancement project.
• A client wishes to record baseline biodiversity, pest or environmental health information prior to (survey) the commencement of an ecosystem enhancement project to record changes as a result of that investment at a later date.
• A client wishes to provide lead agencies such as DOC with baseline biodiversity data to determine planning direction for development, environmental enhancement or remedial works which may be undertaken, i.e. Overseas Investment Applications, RMA Consents.
• Biodiversity monitoring allows a project to formulate and implement ongoing improvements to its management methodologies and produce optimal value per hectare for each dollar invested by the client.
• Biodiversity survey and ongoing monitoring provides planning information when designing and managing a restoration project.
